Tumblr Talking To Top VCs About An $800 Million+ Valuation
$800 million and 37 employees. That’s genius. Tumblr has powered my blog for the past almost 4 years. If you ask me, it’s the most interesting thing on the internet right now and has been for quite some time.
And btw, I was in their offices yesterday talking about some exciting stuff around health. Stay tuned…
Tumblr’s growth “has been going crazy,” and a source tells us that Tumblr has actually spent most of its fundraising time talking to firms that can help it with capacity planning and equipment financing. The startup is about to bring a massive server online, and has plans to light up several more soon.
I’d like to point out that Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO), who faces a likely tough reelection bid in 2012, voted in support of the DREAM Act this morning. Good for you, Senator.
Also: Sen. McCaskill is (I believe) our only United States Senator on Tumblr.
I trust in Portlanders sense of fairness; that bad actions by one member of any group does not and should not be generalized or applied more widely to other members of that same group. Otherwise, as part of the biggest racial group in Portland, European-Americans, producing many crimes daily, would be in deep trouble.
Portland Mayor Sam Adams (who I just realized is on Tumblr)
We can add Portland Mayor Sam Adams to our list of elected officials on Tumblr. Who else is out there? -g
Elected Officials on Tumblr
Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) is the only other elected official I know of who uses Tumblr, but there must be others. Anybody know of one?
Update: Daniel Green pointed me to Proco Joe Moreno, Alderman of Chicago’s 1st Ward since March 26 of this year. Joe looks a bit like Joshua Malina’s Will Bailey from The West Wing. Or maybe that’s just me. Anyway, that puts our count at three. Anybody else?
Pretty excited about this, actually. Now: Surely this isn’t what she’s talking about. So where is she?
